Nike

Nike needs no introduction. Famed for it’s shoe designs from the early waffle prototypes, to what it is today. It’s not just an institution, it’s legendary. In fact this multinational corporation designs, develops, manufactures, and markets footwear, apparel, and equipment. Nike as a company was founded in 1964 and is headquartered near Beaverton, Oregon, in the Portland, Oregon, metropolitan area. The company’s products are worn by athletes around the world and are available at many retail locations. Today, the company has over a million staff worldwide, and the company continues to grow in popularity and size.
History of Nike
In 1971, Carolyn Davidson, a student at Portland State University, designed the iconic Nike Swoosh logo. She was only 19 when she designed it, and it was not until a few years later that she was able to patent the logo. Today, the Swoosh logo is one of the most widely recognized brand logos in the world. But the history of the Nike logo goes back a lot further. A student’s original design was the one that made Nike the worldwide brand it is today.
In 1984, Nike sold a majority stake in its sports division to a Japanese company for $1 billion. The company also acquired Hurley, an action sports apparel and footwear brand, based in Costa Mesa, California. In 1986, the firm laid off 10 percent of its U.S. employees. While the business was experiencing a period of decline, the founders of Nike had a vision to return to the athletic arena. In the meantime, it had a diverse portfolio of brands, including tennis, basketball, and ad-supported clothing line.
The name Nike originated from Greek mythology. The goddess Nike is known for her wingspan and flight. She is also known for her checkmark design on the shoe’s tongue. This distinctive look inspired a wide range of designs, including the Air Max and Xiomara. However, the name “Nike” was first used by a company that produces tennis shoes. But today, the Nike logo is synonymous with running shoes. The logo is synonymous with sportswear and athletic equipment.
The Swoosh
The Nike Swoosh is the most famous logo in the world, and is a symbol of success for the company. The company was founded by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight in 1969 and it has grown to be one of the largest sporting goods companies in the world. With over 44,000 employees all over the world, the company has made over $70 billion in sales since then. Aside from sponsorship of athletes and sports teams, Nike has also won several awards and is considered a major industry leader. To sneakerheads, none of this is news.
